Ray Crew is a founding director of Route 13 Films and an independent filmmaker, writer and playwright whose work spans narrative features, documentaries, promotional films and educational productions.
He started making movies at nine with a Brownie 8mm camera. He has written more than 15 plays and adapted his one-act play The End of the Run into an independent feature. His theater work includes the Cape Island Theatre Company, and his Delaware collaborations include Possum Pictures and Possum Point Players.
Ray began his professional career as a news writer for Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI. He later worked as a reporter and editor for The Shippensburg News Chronicle and The Quakertown Free Press. He led film and video production for Kaset International and established an international television network for Safety Kleen Corporation.
His recent features 1912 and Sherlock Holmes and the Angels of Vengeance are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and other platforms. His next feature, The Damascus Entanglement, is scheduled for release in late 2027. He is also working on From the Pit, a documentary series about athletic excellence and small-town values. His published work includes a Sherlock Holmes and the Angels of Vengeance book.
Ray’s work has been honored by the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association and the American Marketing Association. The End of the Run was named Best New One-Act Play of 2004 in Tampa, Florida. He received the William Byham Award for Innovation and Excellence in 1997 and Cabrini College’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in 2004.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Communications and History from Cabrini College and a Master of Science in Educational Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
